The Steinhatchee Chamber is a voluntary organization of business leaders dedicated to promoting and enhancing economic prosperity in Steinhatchee and Jena. The Chamber is the leading membership based organization consistently engaged in promoting the civic and economic development of our community. Our goal is to provide our members with the resources and advocacy through advertising and name recognition to help their business continue to succeed. Some of the events the Chamber promotes for our area businesses include the opening of Scallop Season and the July 4th Firework and Mullet Toss.
At Christmas there is a Festival of the Trees, the Boat Parade, and Christmas in the Park. The Chamber’s Fiddler Crab Festival is always held on Presidents’ Day Weekend.
In April a benefit Seafood Festival and Fishing tournament is held. Being located on the beautiful Steinhatchee River our Marinas and businesses host many fishing tournaments throughout the year.
We are a small fishing village with a big heart and visitors are always welcome. If you are visiting our community or have plans to, we know you’ll love it and make plans to return.
Steinhatchee Community Projects Board Inc.
The Steinhatchee Community Projects Board, Inc. was formed in 1991 to work with Taylor County and help build a community center in Steinhatchee. Upon completion of the building, the Board assumed responsibility for the building’s day to day care and minor maintenance. The all volunteer Board and general membership sponsors various money raising projects held throughout the years so that the building could be maintained.
The Board has helped fund other community projects such as the fishing pier renovation, academic scholarships, and our new boat ramp. (Currently the Projects Board is working on the renovations of the “Little House” whose history is long and often disputed. The hope is that this newest chapter in its history will include a small community library, a historical center and a welcome center.) Chief among our fund raisers is the Community Fishing Tournament held in March each year and the Ladies Fishing Tournament held in June.
